STATEMENT BY EXECUTIVE MAYOR, ALDERMAN HARRY LEVENDAL ON 2016 MATRIC RESULTS

I would like to take this opportunity to congratulate the many matrics of our town who have successfully completed their school career by obtaining a pass in the final matric examinations in 2016.  It is only human that there would be those who passed with extinction while others may have just scraped through.

There are of course many factors which determined why some learners got distinctions and others not. Some are just clever, while others had to work extremely hard of were the victims of an environment which subjected them to major challenges. Others just did not have the dedication required to do well or to work hard enough.

Ek wil nietemin almal wat geslaag het, van harte geluk wens met hierdie prestasie. Die matriekeindeksamen is een van die belangrikste eksamens wat daar is, en bepaal in ‘n groot mate jou toekoms.  Daar lê nou belangrike keuses vir u voor wat u toekoms gaan bepaal, en  dit is belangrik om dit goed te oorweeg, en dit ernstig op te neem. Net soos met matriek, is harde en getroue werk ook die wenresep in die lewe.

Diegene wat onsuksesvol was, moet ook nie nou tou opgee nie. Die feit dat u tot die eindeksamen gevorder het, beteken dat dit binne u vermoë is om ook daardie finale hekkie te kom. Moet dus nie moed opgee nie. Probeer weer.

In conclusion, I would like to wish you everything of the best with your future endeavours. You are the leaders of tomorrow, the top business men and women, doctors, nurses, accountants, teachers, engineers and artisans and more
