The Mayoral Gala that will be held on 8 October 2012 to raise funds for the Mayoral Relief Fund, received a welcome boost when Mr Johan Coetzee of Standard Bank presented the Executive Mayor, Alderlady Marie Ferreira with a cheque for R50 000 as a sponsorship on Wednesday, 8 August 2012, towards this prestige event.
“I am naturally very pleased that Standard Bank has agreed to become a platinum sponsor of this event, which is aimed at raising funds for the Mayoral Relief Fund. In doing so, the bank has demonstrated its commitment to our community and to corporate social responsibility in general,” said the Executive Mayor.
“We have also received similarly welcome sponsorships of R30 000 each from PetroSA, CVW Consulting Engineers and Business Engineering, while SSI Engineers and Environmental Consultants, MeyerOtto Inc and New Adventure Plant Hire are supporting the event with sponsorships of R20 000 each. MVD Consulting Engineers and VKE Consulting Engineers are sponsoring a table at R15 000 each. Mr Albert Wiffen’s contribution is R10 000 while Henra’s contribution is R5000. We welcome the fact that these sponsors are also ploughing so much back into the community” she said.
The fund is used for various deserving cases such as assisting young people who are chosen to represent their school at provincial or national level and cannot afford the attire and travelling costs, instances where families are left destitute because shacks have burnt down, or to assist Non-Governmental Organisations which require assistance with various projects pertaining to the upliftment of the community.
The fund is administered by the Municipality but may not, in terms of legislation, be funded with ratepayers’ money. The Executive Mayor is therefore completely reliant on private sector funding for this purpose.
The Gala will be a formal event that will include a three-course dinner, wine on the tables, dance music and musical performances by several artists. The wine is being sponsored by Jakkalsvlei Private Cellar of Herbertsdale.
The price of tickets for the event is R400 per person and tickets are now available at the cashiers at the Municipality at 101 Marsh Street, Mossel Bay.
Companies or persons who are interested in sponsoring a table or tables can contact the Municipal Manager at telephone (044) 606-5003 or by e-mail at email@example.com. Platinum (R50 000), gold (R30 000), silver (R20 000) and bronze (R15 000) sponsorship packages, with benefits according to the sponsorship category, are available.
