PRESS RELEASE: WATER RESTRICTIONS RELAXED

WATERBEPERKINGS VERSLAP

WATER RESTRICTIONS RELAXED

The Mossel Bay Municipality thanks residents for their response to the strict water restrictions that have been in place for a considerable time.

Mossel Bay Municipality's executive mayor, Alderman Harry Levendal and municipal manager Adv Thys Giliomee today approved that the water restrictions may be relaxed.

Due to the wonderful rain that fell this past weekend, dam levels have been replenished considerably. As at 12 o clock this afternoon, the Wolwedans Dam level was at 68.6%, compared to just more than 43% a week ago.

Note also that more rain is forecast for the rest of the week and all the water from the recent rains have not necessarily reached the various dams.

Residents are requested to continue to voluntarily save water so that the water levels of the dams that supply Mossel Bay with drinking water can be maintained.

HERBERTSDALE

Further good news is that the good rain has replenished the boreholes in Herbertsdale and the reservoirs can, therefore, be filled directly from these boreholes. Residents are nevertheless requested to continue to collect water from the tanks for another day or two before the tap water will return to normal.

Mossel Bay Municipality thanks the residents of Herbertsdale for their friendly cooperation despite difficult circumstances. It also appears that the further borehole, which is being sunk about 8 km outside the town, may well be viable although final tests are still to be done.

Thanksgiving

Mossel Bay Municipality will soon announce the arrangements for a Thanksgiving service for the wonderful rain that has fallen in the district.
