A prestigious gala event in aid of the Relief Fund utilised by the Mayor to help Mossel Bay residents in distress or need will take place in the Mossel Bay Town Hall on 23 October 2015. Tickets for the event can now be bought at the Municipality.
Tickets for the formal event will cost R400 per person. It promises to be an evening of fun with a three-course dinner, wine on the tables and dancing to a live band.
The fund is used for various deserving cases, such as assisting families left destitute as a result of shack fires, natural disasters such as floods, marine disasters and road accidents.
It is also used to assist, for example, schoolchildren from under-privileged communities who are selected to represent their school in sports, cultural and educational events at national or provincial level. Non-Governmental organisations, which are involved in community upliftment projects, are also assisted from the fund.
The fund is administered by the Municipality but it may not, in terms of legislation, be funded with ratepayers’ money. The Executive Mayor is therefore completely reliant on private sector funding or fundraising events, such as the gala event, to strengthen the fund. The Mayor is approached almost on a daily basis to assist families or organisations.
The aim is to raise at least R200 000 for the fund and some companies have already committed themselves as sponsors for the event. An appeal is, however, made to more companies to come forward to support the function. The sponsorship packages, which offer several marketing benefits to the sponsors, are platinum (R50 000), gold (R30 000), silver (R20 000) or sponsorship of a table (R12 000). All of these include ten free tickets as well as advertising on the electronic board for periods according to the value of the sponsorship.
Prospective sponsors can contact the office of the Municipal Manager at (044) 606-5003 or e-mail at firstname.lastname@example.org for more information. Tickets can already be bought at the cashiers at the Municipality, or the Office of the Municipal Manager can be contacted in this regard.Last published 09 June 2016
