Dias & Port Festival, 1 - 4 February 2018
The historical town of Mossel Bay will be hosting the new and exciting Dias & Port Festival from 1 – 4 February 2018 in partnership with the Transnet National Ports Authority (TNPA) of Mossel Bay. This year Mossel Bay Municipality have joined forces with TNPA and combined resources and funding to bring you a bigger and better festival with lots more to see, do and experience. Entrance is free for all to attend!
The festival arena at De Bakke Santos Resort will have the regular and new activities on offer, such as a variety of stalls, fun rides and kids play area and the Santos stage. The Port will also bring a new range of new and exciting activities to the festival, including tug boat rides, career expo, various exciting competitions and much more.
Herewith are some of the official Dias & Port Festival 2018 activities that will take place from 1 - 4 February:
Festivalgoers can look forward to top South African artists on two stages, such as Jack Parow (parental guidance is advised), the ever-popular Emo Adams and the Take Note Band, his brother, Loukmaan Adams, Captain Kurt Darren, as well as Jo Black, ADAM, Charlize Berg, Manuel Escorcio, DJ SK, Mafikizolo, gospel star Neville D and many others.
To mark the official start of the Dias & Port Festival 2018 will be on Thursday 1, February, a Cultural Evening and Concert will be held in the Town Hall with a great line-up of international and national performers.
On Friday 2, February 2018 Parow, Jamali, Lloyd Cele and Early B will take to the Santos, while Mafikizolo, Heavy K and others will be heating up the Port’s stage. Local bands and artists that will be performing, include the likes of Wellcast, G-Minor, Ramon Alexander Quartet, Prerogative, Davene Anderson, Alicia van Wyk, Keenen Daniëls, DMA, Ambrosia Muller, Joe, Precious Nkrumah and Kay Gody.
Some of the other highlights for Saturday 3, February include: The Dias & Port Festival Street parade with colourful floats and costumes, flag jumps, motorsport gymkhana, various cultural events and top South African artists to perform on the two stages.
On Sunday 4, February there will be a Tjiff and Tjaff show, as well as all the usual kids’ entertainment and activities, stalls, a brass band and choir festival and live stage programme.
The festival arena will be extended from the De Bakke Santos festival arena to the Port area and surrounds, with two stages, one at De Bakke and another at the Port. Both stages have full programmes throughout the festival weekend. (Please refer to the respective stage and festival programmes for more details).
The Dias & Port Festival 2018 also marks the 30th celebration of the Dias Festival and revival of the Port Festival and provides local singers and performers to showcase their talent on an international platform, as representatives from various nationalities will be participating in the Dias & Port Festival 2018, including Germany, China, Indonesia, Portugal, as well as Madagascar and India.
We anticipate that more than 35 000 people will be attending the Dias & Port Festival.
