FLY-PAST OVER MOSSEL BAY WILL MAKE MOUTHS WATER

There promises to be a mouth-watering experience for aircraft enthusiasts next weekend when possibly the most interesting selection of aircraft ever seen in Mossel Bay will fly over Santos bay as part of the Dias Festival.

To add to this, there will be an aerobatics performance, skydiving and static displays of helicopters.

Fly-pasts as well as aerobatics and skydiving are scheduled to take place on Friday, 2 February 2012 from 16:30 onwards and again from 11:00 onwards on Saturday, 3 February

Participants include the South African Air Force (SAAF), which will also have an information tent at the festival, Airshow South Africa, local flight training schools, SA Airlink and several local pilots.

The SAAF will bring Astra and Hawk aeroplanes as well as Oryx and Augusta A109 helicopters to participate in the event. The helicopters will be on public display close to the festival arena for the duration of the festival. The Augusta is one of the SAAF’s latest acquisitions. An SA Police helicopter will also be in action.

An SA Airlink Embraer passenger aircraft is also schedule to participate in the fly-past while it is in the area to unload and load passengers in George.

Other aircraft include a Cessna 337, a Pitts Special, a Piper Cub, a Pietenpol, a Cubby, a Robinson R44 helicopter and a gyrocopter. The Pitts Special will give an aerobatics show,

Skydivers from Mossel Bay Skydivers will treat spectators with jumps on Santos beach.

The programme is co-ordinated by Mr Hans Potgieter who can be contacted at 0827681754 for more information.
